The Rest: Journal of Politics and Development is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal publishing original scholarly research in political science, international relations, development studies, political economy, security studies, regional studies, and related fields.

The journal was originally established in 2010 under the title Journal of Global Analysis (JGA). In 2019, the journal continued publishing under the new title, The Rest: Journal of Politics and Development.

The journal aims to contribute to contemporary academic debates by publishing theoretically informed, methodologically rigorous, and original scholarly work that addresses political, economic, social, strategic, and developmental issues at the national, regional, and global levels.

The Rest encourages interdisciplinary approaches and welcomes contributions from diverse theoretical and methodological traditions.

The journal publishes:

  • original research articles,
  • review articles,
  • and book reviews.

The journal’s publication language is English.

The Rest: Journal of Politics and Development operates under a full open-access model and does not charge any submission fees, article processing charges (APCs), publication fees, or access fees.

All submissions are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process.

The journal follows internationally recognised publication ethics principles and adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).


The Rest is a biannually (31st of January – 31st of July) published open-access journal.
